WELCOME TO HIRANYA MANDALA.

HEALTH AND SOUL CULTURE ARE OUR SPECIALITY!

The South African based Hiranya Mandala School of Yoga Integration and Meditation was founded in 2020 by Yogacharya Georgios Demetriades. The purpose of this school is to support people by promoting the universal practices of Hindu Yoga, leading to the integration of the body, mind and soul. The Samskrtam phrase 'Hiranya Mandala' translates into Golden Circle. The school's ethos is founded upon four pillars: (1)YOGA INTEGRATION,
(2) BALANCE, (3) WELL-BEING, (4) SUPPORT.

The school's activities and services are all related to Yoga. We place much importance on this, and emphasise the universal teachings and practices of Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga, Tantra and Ayurveda.

Classical Hatha Yoga

Monday 7:00 - 8:00
Monday 8:00 - 9:00
Tuesday 17:00 - 18:00

Classical Hatha Yoga consists of an elaborate system of techniques that conduce to bodily purification. These include: asana, pranayama, bandha, mudra, and karana; which techniques, when practiced correctly result, mathematically, in a flexible, strong, disease-free and youthful body, and keener mind. In short, the practice of Hatha Yoga techniques constitutes a psycho-physiological realignment. Its higher purpose is the awakening of the dormant "lifetronic" energy (pranah) which supports the elevation of consciousness (citti), and also renders the body fit for the practice of meditation (dhyanam).

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga

Tuesday 7:00 - 8:30
Wednesday 7:00 - 8:30

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a dynamic and aerobic form of Hatha Yoga postural practices that uses asanas together with ujjayi breathing, bandha, drsti, etc. to purify the body through the sweating process, increase strength and flexibility, and focus the mind.

ISHTA Yoga

Wednesday 17:00 - 18:00
Friday 8:00 - 9:00

ISHTA is an acronym for the Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurveda, and is a very spiritual practice. It integrates the practices of asana, pranayama, mudra, bandha, yoga nidra,  meditation, Ayurveda and the Tantric arts, to bring a unique experience that is gentle on the body-mind level. It brings together the "best" of various disciplines, and through its systematic practice encourages students to find the perfect blend of techniques that would promote the development of their full potential.

Guided Yoga Nidra

Wednesday 18:00 - 19:00

The rejuvenating practice of Yoga nidra (conscious sleep), involves involuting the consciousness, and life currents, and localising them in the sensorium of the spine and brain (trikuti or susumnadvara). In the order of Hatha Yoga practices, it follows the techniques of asanas, pranayamas and karanas, it follows the practice of systematically. It is an indispensable and important part of the Yoga practitioner's toolkit of practices as it helps us to simulate the involuntary sleep state (svapna avastha) in the waking or conscious state (jagrta avastha). As a result we find inner stillness by interiorising our sensory awareness and powers, and thus prepare our minds and bodies for the deeper Yogic practices.
