Time & Location

18 Jun 2022, 14:00 – 18:00 SAST

Sandton, 121 Atholl Rd, Atholl, Sandton, 2196, South Africa

About the event

1. Hatha Yoga Asanas for the release of musculo-skeletal tension,

and for energisation. Asanas will also help to clear the body of

toxins, and remove calcification of joints which occurs over time.

They help to increase strength, flexibility and joint range of motion,

among other benefits.

2. Hatha Yoga Pranayamas for the aeration of the body and clarification

of the subtle energy pathways (nadis). Pranayama is not breath control,

it is "life control". Pranayama has the added benefit of inducing sensory

withdrawal (pratyahara) which is vital for deeper spiritual practices.

3. Hatha Yoga Nidra falls under the pratyahara practices and is a

rejuvenative practice in itself. It is especially beneficial after a hard

day's work and relaxes the entire psycho-physiological system.

4. Observation of silence (mauna) for self-study and journaling is

beneficial, and falls under the self-enquiry (svadhyaya) practices of

Yoga, that is, one observes everything, as it arises, in the moment.

Keeping the Lord in mind, during such times, is of utmost importance,

and is rejuvenative in itself, as much energy is expended just by talking,

and through restless behaviour.

5. Raja Yoga Meditation (Dhyanam) is the psycho-spiritual practice of

one-pointed concentration. It is the central practice which leads to higher

states of consciousness. Some of the benefits of Raja Yoga meditation are:

increased feelings of peacefulness, joy, love; improved physical and mental

efficiency; reduced stress and anxiety, etc.

6. Healthy refreshments
